When visitors leave comments on the site the data shown in the comments form is collected as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help with detecting spam.
An anonymous string created from your email address may be used by the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. When one of your comments is approved, your profile pic is shown to the public in the context of your comment.
